On 8 April, the European Network on Statelessness and UNHCR Representative to the European Institutions in Strasbourg invite you to attend the Conference on “Stateless but not Rightless: Improving the Protection of Stateless Persons in Europe” in Strasbourg (Room 3, Palais de l’Europe).

Followed by a key note speech by Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks, panels including Judge Ledi Bianku, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, representatives of relevant international organisations, NGOs, State authorities, academics and legal practitioners, will discuss standards and practice on statelessness determination and protection, the protection of stateless persons through courts and quasi-judicial bodies, and how to raise public awareness about the plight of stateless persons. 

The Conference is open to practicing lawyers, members of the Council of Europe Secretariat, Parliamentarians, States and NGO representatives.

Due to limited capacity, make sure to register as soon as possible by sending Carole Viennet (frast3@unhcr.org) and cc. Samuel Boutruche (boutruch@unhcr.org) by Friday 14 March at the latest. There is no registration fee.
