Refugee Action have launched a campaign to call upon Europe’s leaders to do more to protect people fleeing wars, conflict and persecution before more lives are lost. The lack of safe and legal routes for refugees to reach safety has led to a large scale loss of life in the Mediterranean, as thousands of people in need of protection attempt this dangerous journey in unseaworthy boats.

As part of this campaign Refugee Action invite the public to send a picture of a flower to their Twitter, Facebook or Instagram this week to remember the men, women, and children who have died in their attempts to find refuge, with 2000 flowers commemorating the 2000 people who have died in the Mediterranean this year.

More information on how to get involved in this campaign can be found at Refugee Action, Help us send #2000 flowers.
