'Broken Promises - Forgotten Principles': ECRE Evaluation of the Development of EU Minimum Standards for Refugee Protection


Evaluation of the first phase in the harmonisation of EU standards for refugee protection ECRE's assessment finds that the EU has adopted a package of laws that will not ensure that asylum seekers and refugees will get effective protection across the whole of the newly enlarged European Union. These laws will not be able to effectively tackle the need for countries to share the responsibility of receiving refugees and hardly approximate national practices.
