Regional media workshop
NGO Workshop "Improving your Work with the Media", 8th June 2007, Kyiv, Ukraine This workshop was organised as a follow up to a seminar on working with the media held in March 2006. 20 NGO media officers from Belarus, Russian Federation and Ukraine attended the training. The workshop was facilitated by Refugee NGO experts who have extensive experience with working with the media: Annerieke Dekker from the Dutch Council for Refugees and Keith Best from the Immigration Advisory Service, UK. Russian and Ukrainian journalists were also invited to speak at the workshop and to explain what kind of information on refugee issues is most useful to them. The workshop had a practical slant, allowing time for exchange of ideas between NGOs on their recent media activities, time for planning media activities with small grants offered to the participating NGOs to run small press events in Ukraine, Belarus and Russian Federation. |
