Annual General Conference

ECRE's Annual General Conference is held annually in Autumn and is attended by approximately 100 representatives from the refugee-assisting community in Europe. The AGC  is a key moment for the Alliance, as it provides the Secretariat with general direction for the coming year and allows Members to guide ECRE’s policy and advocacy positions, based on their national experience. The AGC is an ideal opportunity for ECRE Members from all over Europe to interact on both a professional and social level.

We have put together a programme that will address a variety of issues of concern to us all, such as the Arab Spring, detention, and the role of the Council of Europe to safeguard the right to protection. Having selected Malta as the strategic location for the AGC, participants will get a thorough overview of the situation of refugees and asylum seekers in Malta and hear from the recently established EASO. There will be a variety of workshops held at the AGC dealing with topics such as detention, statelessness, external dimension, vulnerable groups, integration and fundraising. Elections to the ECRE Board will also take place.

The registration fee for the 2011 AGC is 360 euro. This fee covers all meals as per the programme, accommodation for the 12th and 13th and the renting of conference facilities throughout the event. Please note that travel costs are not included in this fee and that it is the responsibility of the participating organisation to organise their travel to Malta. For this edition of the AGC, ECRE has also put in place a Solidarity Fund. You will find more information about it below.

The Solidarity Fund ►

In view of the fact that some organisations may not be able to afford the registration fee for the AGC, ECRE is coordinating a Solidarity Fund. We are trying to find resources within our budget to finance some participants but we would appeal to Members to make a small contribution of 20 euro to the Fund. We are hoping to gather enough funds for 4 - 6 people. Depending on the budget available, we will finance either the entire cost, i.e. registration fee and travel costsor just the registration fee.

If you would like to avail of the Solidarity Fund, please send us a letter explaining in approx. 250 words the reasons for which you think your organisation should be eligible for this fund. Members who are willing to contribute to the Solidarity Fund may do so when filling out the online registration form. Please accept our sincere gratitude for your generosity in advance.
