 | Following the elections of new Members of European Parliament (MEPs) in June 2009, ECRE and UNHCR developed a leaflet entitled "Asylum in Europe: Now, it's up to you", distributed to all the MEPs sitting in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. This leaflet includes an overview of EU asylum legislation and main issues on the agenda in the coming months. The European Parliament will have an important role to play in the coming months on asylum issues, with the continuation of discussions on the revision of the Dublin and Eurodac Regulations, and the Reception Conditions Directive, as well as the creation of a European Asylum Support Office. This will be the first time the European Parliament and the Council discuss asylum issues under the co-decision procedure. Asylum issues will also be of particular importance at the EU level with the expected adoption by the European Council in December of the "Stockholm Programme" which will determine the course of EU law and policy on international protection from 2010 through 2014. We would like to invite all Members of European Parliament to engage with us and consider our recommendations to ensure Europe offers protection to persons fleeing persecution. Check our leaflet
